Lablove

I am enjoying my internship so much! I have the cooliest project ever, and I think I’m kind of in love with it.

(Okay maybe its because everything’s going quite smoothly (for now), alhamdulillah.)

But yeah, the chemistry is quite exciting and I’m kind of excited about it.

Yeah and they macam tinted the windows blue, for some weird reason so it always looks extra gloomy in the students area.

The reaction I did yesterday!

Okay to be completely honest, I really hate dealing with inert atmospheres and dry solvents. Its just too leceh, but okay lah, no choice cos I was doing a lithiation reaction with n-BuLi.

This is why working at a research institute PWNS NUS research labs! Look at the insane number of RBFs and taps of various sizes and everything is so well organized and CLEAN and NEW (clean and new being the most important).

Okay actually the most important is NOT having to wake up at 830 to book NMR online. Here you just drop it off at any time of the day and someone will do it for you, which rocks, to say the least. So all you really need to do is come back in ten mins for the spectrum.

Like you can take things straight out of the drawer to use. I couldn’t do that while doing my hons project, and just looking for one usable RBF was freaking torture.

Today I worked up my reaction and did column!

Chemistry is such a pretty thing! Because my product is not UV active, we had to use permanganate stain so thats why we have the lovely pink plates!

I really think I love R&D more than I think I do.

Wrong! The blue and green are actually the same green colour! Really confirm chop! I did the colour dropper on photoshop.

Totally right, its so awesome.

Oh yeah and I kind of feel sad for Farrah Fawcett cos she and MJ both passed away today but only MJ’s death made majorrr news. Okay la maybe hers was quite expected.
