Fabulous Las Vegas!

July 21, 2008

In this entry:

-Bus ride from LA-LV
-Glimpses of the Las Vegas Strip

So Friday, right. Our bus to Las Vegas was from downtown LA at 7am so we had to leave by 5am in order to reach there at a safe time. The buses and trains here don’t exactly run on Swiss timing. Hur.

We woke up at like, 330am. Serene made breakfast, which was toasted blueberry bagels and cream cheese. We is become angmoh now. We doesn’t eats bread anymore. Bagelz roxxorzx.

It was SO COLD outside and SO DARK and SO QUIET.

Met Thomas, the dutch guy from my Spanish class at the Burger King in Westwood and he told me that he couldn’t get a booking on our bus, so we had to go separate ways. But he was still cute though.

And like, the night before, Holly was googling how to say “I love you” in Dutch, no kidding. She’s such a freak sometimes.

On the Metro train.

We reached downtown at like, 6am. Shit sia so early. Found the hotel that we were supposed to wait at.

And waited.

We travelled light. So light that its only ONE backpack. Its CRAZY. I never thought I could do such a thing.

The bus was late, dammit. It only came at like, 740am. Well anyway, drove for what seemed like 32894732 years and all we saw out the window was desert.

Exaggeration aside, the drive was around 6-7 hours from LA.

And finally parts of the strip came to view. It was surreal.

We dropped off at Harrah’s Hotel…

OH MY GOD THE WEATHER WAS SO HOT.

It felt like a MICROWAVE OVEN. Its such hot weather that I’ve never experienced such hot weather in my entire life before. It was like, 42 deg C? or 40? ZOMGZ SO HOT.

Loi was totally right, like she said the wind was more like a heatwave. HEATWAVE. Damn hot!

And you can feel the heat attacking every part of your body! I could, for instance, feel the heat seeping into my EYES! And my eyeballs felt boiled.

BOILED!

ANYWAY.

We walked to where we were staying – the Fabulous TREASURE ISLAND! ITS SUCH AN AWESOME HOTEL I WON’T EVEN LIE!

We decided to splurge on our hotel to ensure two things.

1) We stay at a good location ON the vegas strip
2) The hotel has some class and is not the sleazy kind

At $189 a night, it was really worth the splurge. Plus the 6 of us bunked into a room so after splitting the cost its not that bad.

A map of the strip. We’re really in a good location. Quite happy with the decision to stay at TI.

Yan Hao checked us in.

We wanted to watch a Cirque (du soleil) show, but we couldn’t catch the one that appealed the most to me (Mystere) due to shortage of time and stuff. And the other Cirque shows were sold out.

In the end, Yan Hao, Serene and Hols managed to secure last minute tickets to Love at the Mirage, which was just next door.

We walked around the area for abit.

The Strip actually is just a part of Las Vegas Boulevard.

This is the Venetian. Its SO PRETTY.

View of TI from the Venetian

We were famished from the long bus ride so we had lunch at…

Macs. Hurz.

After that we split up since the three of them had to get ready for their show.

Wei Yao, Jason and I took a ride on the Deuce, a double decker bus which plies up and down the Vegas strip.

Quite a nice bus la. We alighted at the Stratosphere.

Its the one with the roller coaster at the top of the hotel.

Freaky shizz.

So anyway we changed to a feeder service that would take us to…

HUR more outlet shopping, but whatever. Everything I bought there wasn’t for myself. So depressing.

Plus it was like an amazing race or something cos I literally RAN to each store and RAN out to the next cos we only had 2 hours there before it closed.

By the time we were done, it was past 9pm and we got back to the Strip.

Vegas NEVER SLEEPS. Even at night, its relatively safe to walk around (the Strip area) as long as you’re in groups I guess.

Stratosphere by night. Lighted vegas is SO PRETTY.

The Sahara

Wynn Hotel

This is the fashion mall just beside TI.

The Mirage

We walked back to TI and caught the Pirate show at 1130pm.

Nothing much, just girls in bikinis prancing around. And muscular men jumping off dive boards.

Nothing too impressive la.

Walked over to Casino Royale

And bumped into the three of them walking back after their show. This was around 30mins past midnight.

The guys told us to go back to the hotel to bathe first, while they walked around so we didn’t have to wait so long for the toilet.

We got back and camwhored abit before calling it a night.

We had to wake up EARLY the next day because our bus to Grand Canyon was fetching us from TI at 6.10am. Its CRAZY. We only had like, what. 3 Hours of sleep?

GOOD MORNING SUNSHINE!
